What about Patagonia
Patagonia is a large area of Chile and Argentina, including different regions of each country. In Chile, it is said that Patagonia – as a territory – begins in Carretera Austral, Los Lagos Region or Región de los Lagos in Spanish (located south of Puerto Montt city) and passing along Aysén Region and Magallanes Region. When talking about Patagonia in Carretera Austral, you will find in most travel guides that is frequently called “Patagonia Norte” or Northern Patagonia; and when we speak about Torres del Paine, Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas, (located at Magallanes Region, the last region of Chile before Antarctica), we say “Patagonia Austral” or Austral Patagonia.
In Argentina it is said that Patagonia begins in Neuquén Province, including Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego Provinces.
How to get to Austral Patagonia or Southern Patagonia
There are many different ways to come to Patagonia.
From Santiago de Chile it is possible to find direct flights to Punta Arenas (all year round with about 2 to 3 different itineraries daily) and to Puerto Natales (during the spring and summer season every day, and during autumn and winter season, 2 to 3 flights per week).
